Some of the experts interviewed by UNN did not know that Hennadiy Kernes had a son, Kyrylo, and some confused him with his adopted son, Rodion Haisynskyi, which only confirms the thesis that Kernes Jr. is an unknown figure in Ukrainian and even Kharkiv politics, and has no weight at all.
"Until recently, I had not heard of him and did not even know that Kernes had a son named Kyrylo," Bortnik said in an exclusive commentary to UNN.
As you know, even when Hennadiy Kernes was alive, his son had no weight in Kharkiv, and he got into politics only through his father's patronage. "Under Kernes, he (Kyrylo - ed.) played no role... He was a nobody, he was a nobody, he was not known in Kharkiv before, to put it bluntly," said Viktor Bobyrenko, head of the expert group of the Bureau of Policy Analysis, in a commentary to UNN.
Experts assume that the son of his famous father, the mayor, by appearing in the media and making loud statements that contradict each other, is trying to spread another rumor about Kharkiv to please the Kremlin, working off three rubles.
"This could be a narrative that Russia has given (Kyrylo Kernes - ed.), that we will help you with money now, and you should talk about this. This is to undermine the situation, to say that the Ukrainian government is not legitimate because it usurped power from the living Yanukovych, and even the local authorities are not legitimate either - even the descendant of Kernes says that everything is not true," Bobirenko noted.

After his father's death, Kyrylo Kernes proved to be a political impotent and disappointment. He was even expelled from the party named after him, the Kernes - Successful Kharkiv Bloc, depriving him of the opportunity to collect political dividends by parasitizing on his father's authority. Thus, the chance for Kernes Jr. to be in power has become even more illusory, but the dream of the mayoralty has not disappeared.
During an interview, he hinted quite clearly and transparently that he wanted to become mayor of Kharkiv. Bobyrenko does not rule out that Russia may use these ambitions of Kyrylo Kernes, who is far from Ukrainian realities, "in the dark."
"It is clear that they are acting according to the method of "the enemy needs the betrayal" - in this case, the Russian Federation needs the betrayal, no one needs the traitor. He will be "written off" later. They will sacrifice him, but now they can play this card, they can play on the ambitions of this younger Kernes," he explained.
Security expert Serhiy Shabovta believes that Kernes Jr. will continue to attract attention with absurd statements and will try to return to political life by any means necessary. As his previous statements have shown, Kyrylo will not even shy away from using the death of his father, whom he loved so much that he never visited him in the hospital.
"The son of Kernes... he came out of the darkness, he will now fuel interest around him with his statements, the most absurd and ridiculous ones, he needs it to breed his name and return it to the field of some kind of political ping-pong, nothing more," Shabovta said in an exclusive commentary to UNN.
The expert believes that the removal of some characters from the map of Ukraine's political life will give us many such personalities in the future who "will come out and make some statements." "Sometimes I even feel sorry for such people who try to reanimate themselves in this way, perhaps to make another attempt," he said.
At the same time, Ruslan Bortnik believes that Kyrylo Kernes cannot be taken seriously, and there is a good reason for this. "I don't think that Kernes can be taken seriously, to be honest. I've looked at his biography and I don't think he's a figure that Russia can bet on. Because they don't like them there. I don't want to discuss my personal life... But they don't like people with this kind of behavior... They don't like people with addictions," Bortnik said, adding that Russia can and will use any crisis in Ukraine anyway.
As history shows, people like Kyrylo Kernes are first used and then thrown away.
Political analysts agree that Kernes Jr. only wants to make money and is ready to say anything to get back into the Ukrainian information space, even if the city his father loved and developed so much suffers.
