On July 13, the world celebrates the loud International Rock Day and the popular gastronomic holiday — French Fry Day. In Ukraine, Orthodox believers according to the new calendar celebrate the Synaxis of the Archangel Gabriel, while adherents of the old style honor the Synaxis of the Twelve Apostles, celebrating "Napivpetra," reports UNN.

International Rock Day

An energetic holiday dedicated to one of the most influential music genres in the world. It unites fans of classic rock and roll, heavy metal, indie rock, and many other subgenres. On this day, themed concerts are traditionally held, favorite bands are listened to, and legendary musicians who changed the history of music are remembered.

Montenegro Statehood Day

The main national holiday of the country. It is timed to two important historical events: the recognition of Montenegro's independence at the Berlin Congress on July 13, 1878, as well as the beginning of the anti-fascist uprising of the local population on July 13, 1941.

National French Fry Day

One of the most popular gastronomic holidays in the world. A great reason to treat yourself to this crispy snack, which, by the way, was invented not in France, but in Belgium at the end of the 17th century.

Embrace Your Geekness Day

An unofficial holiday created so that people stop being ashamed of their specific or "nerdy" hobbies. Whether you love comics, programming, board games, fantasy, or stamp collecting — today is the perfect day to be proud of your interests.

Barbershop Music Appreciation Day

A holiday dedicated to the unique American style of a cappella vocal singing that originated in barbershops at the beginning of the 20th century.

National Beef Tallow Day

A specific culinary holiday in the USA, traditionally celebrated together with French Fry Day, because previously the best fries were fried in beef tallow for a rich flavor.

Synaxis of the Archangel Gabriel

According to the new (New Julian) calendar, on July 13, Orthodox and Greek Catholics honor one of the highest angels — Gabriel, who brought the most important news from God to people (in particular, the news to the Virgin Mary about the birth of Jesus). Among the people, it was believed that from this day strong summer thunderstorms and downpours begin.

For those who adhere to the old (Julian) calendar: July 13 marks the Synaxis of the Glorious and All-Praised Twelve Apostles (the day after the feast of Peter and Paul). Among the people, this holiday was called "Napivpetra" or the peak of summer. Traditionally, on this day, eggs were dyed yellow (as a symbol of the sun) and dishes with eggs were prepared, saying goodbye to spring-summer festivities before the start of the heavy harvest.
