Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has suggested that he may resign from office early, even before the end of his presidential mandate. He stated this during a visit to China, as reported by Vreme, according to UNN.

During a conversation with journalists in Beijing, Vučić noted that his term in office is coming to an end.

"I might resign soon,"

the Serbian leader said.

At the same time, he emphasized that he would not repeat the move of former President Boris Tadić, who resigned early in 2012 to hold simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections.

Vučić criticized anti-government protests

The Serbian President also downplayed the significance of the protests that took place on Saturday at Slavija Square in Belgrade. He called the action "empty" and stated that it had no clear goal. According to Vučić, various Serbian intelligence services estimated the number of protesters at 30,000 to 34,000 people.

Furthermore, Vučić placed responsibility for the incidents following the rally on the protest organizers. Meanwhile, the Serbian Progressive Party, led by the president, announced its own mass events from June 26 to 28.
