A proposal from the European Commission to use the proceeds of frozen Russian assets after Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine can be expected soon. This was stated by the Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis on Monday after arriving at the Eurogroup meeting, UNN reports.

At the same time, Sky TG24 quotes a senior EU official as saying that proposals on the use of extraordinary proceeds from frozen Russian assets are expected before the March EU summit.
According to him, proposals from the European Commission on the use of proceeds from the frozen assets of the Russian central bank are expected "soon, this week or next week.
The proposal will not arrive in time for the EU Council meeting of economy and finance ministers, so the discussion tomorrow, March 12, between ministers (the Ecofin theme will be on the agenda) should show, on the one hand, those who emphasize the "urgency" of the consideration, given the situation in Ukraine, and, on the other hand, calls for "prudence" from those who see possible consequences of such a decision for the international role of the euro. Nevertheless, the proposal should arrive in time for the European Council on March 21-22, a senior EU official said.
