The lower house of the US Congress has passed a bill that sets the budget for the country's defense needs for next year at $883.7 billion. This was reported by The Hill, according to UNN.
Details
It is noted that 281 congressmen voted in favor, while 140 parliamentarians voted against. Support for the document can be considered bipartisan: 81 Democrats joined 200 Republicans in approving the budget.
According to the draft law, the Pentagon will receive funding of $883.7 billion in 2025. These funds will be used to raise military pay, manufacture 200 aircraft and 300 military vehicles, and create a fund for Taiwan, similar to the initiative for Ukraine, which will allow Washington to buy equipment for the island directly from private manufacturers.
The budget is expected to be considered by the Senate next week. It is not yet known whether the upper house of Congress will have any significant comments.
The defense budget must be approved by the end of December. Over the past sixty years, there has not been a single case when a relevant bill in the United States did not become law on time.
Recall
According to the Pentagon, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has spent more than $200 billion on the war in Ukraine and suffered 700,000 casualties. Every day, the occupiers lose up to a thousand soldiers, which exceeds all losses since World War II.
