An unidentified drone violated Finnish airspace near the border with Russia on Sunday, May 3. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Finland, according to UNN.

According to the ministry, the drone was detected over the municipality of Virolahti, which borders the Leningrad region. The type of drone and its origin currently remain unknown.

The Finnish Border Guard is investigating the incident. It is expected that the agency will provide additional information regarding the circumstances of the event later.

At the same time, according to Yle, the Finnish Defense Forces temporarily introduced flight restrictions in the maritime area near the port cities of Kotka and Hamina. The restrictions were in effect from 01:57 to 08:00. The military explained that such measures were necessary to improve situational awareness and ensure the safe control of potentially stray drones.
