Over 169 thousand imported cars appeared in Ukraine in six months, 70% are used, every second one has a gasoline engine, the most expensive are hybrids with an average price of almost $27 thousand, most are brought from the USA, the State Customs Service reported on Tuesday, writes UNN.

"Since the beginning of the year, Ukrainians have imported over 169 thousand passenger cars with a total value of almost UAH 96.6 billion," the customs service stated.
Used cars, as reported, accounted for over 70% of total imports, while providing customs payments to the state budget in the amount of UAH 17.7 billion, new cars — in the amount of UAH 14.4 billion.
"The type of fuel chosen by Ukrainian consumers reflects both stable preferences and a gradual change in trends," the customs service stated.
According to the customs data, preferences in the first half of the year were divided as follows:
- gasoline cars remain the most popular — their share is more than half (54.5%) of all imported;
- in second place are diesel cars (20.3%), which significantly surpassed electric cars and outpaced hybrids;
- electric cars (13%);
- hybrids (12.1%).
"The most expensive among imported cars were hybrids, the average cost of one such car is almost $27 thousand. At the same time, the cost of a diesel car is $16 thousand, an electric one is over $10 thousand, and a gasoline one is $9 thousand," the statement says.
In contrast, the largest revenues to the budget, as indicated, were provided by gasoline cars — over UAH 14.6 billion, diesel — UAH 8.4 billion, hybrids — UAH 7.1 billion, and electric — UAH 2 billion. In total, over six months, customs revenues from the import of passenger cars amounted to UAH 32.1 billion.
Since the beginning of 2026, cars have been imported from over 50 countries, but the undisputed leaders are:
- USA — 73.2 thousand (43% of the total number imported);
- Germany — 17.3 thousand (10%);
- Poland — 14.6 thousand (9%).
A total of almost 105.1 thousand cars were imported from these countries, i.e., 62% of the total number.
