Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina started the 2024 Olympics with a confident victory - in the first round of the singles, she defeated Japanese player Moyuka Uchujima. This was reported by UNN with reference to Suspilne Sport.

Svitolina closed out the first game in half an hour. Uchujima was the first to break at 1-1, but lost the next five games in a row - 6-2 in favor of Elina.
Svitolina started the second game with a break, and then consolidated her advantage on her own serve, leading 3-0. Uchujima avoided a “dry” defeat in the second set, playing one game at 0:5.
The Ukrainian closed out the match on her next serve and after 62 minutes on the court is heading to the round of 16.
