Poland's Krakow hosted the World Climbing Series tournament, which opened a new chapter in the history of speed climbing. It was here that a four-lane wall was used for the first time at international competitions of this series, and the speed relay debuted — a discipline previously featured only at the World Games and now considered one of the future main disciplines.
In the qualification, the Ukrainian duo Hryhorii Ilchyshyn and Yaroslav Tkach showed the fourth result among all teams and the best among European national teams — 10.31 seconds, setting a European record. In the bronze final, the Ukrainians confidently outpaced the Indonesian team and climbed to the historic third step of the podium in the speed relay at the World Climbing Series tournament.
It is noted that for Hryhorii Ilchyshyn this is already the second record achievement of the season: in May, during the World Climbing Series stage in Wujiang, China, he set a new European record in individual competition — 4.841 seconds.
