Ukraine apologized to Greece for the sea drone found near the island of Lefkada. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the incident a consequence of the ongoing Russian aggression.

Ukraine expresses its apologies for the incident involving a sea drone found near the Greek island of Lefkada. This is stated in a statement by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heorhii Tykhyi, UNN reports.

Details

According to him, the incident was the result of circumstances caused by the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine.

The Ukrainian side expresses its gratitude to Greece and the Greek people for their unwavering support of our country since the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion. Ukraine highly values its friendly relations with Greece

- Tykhyi noted.

He emphasized that since modern challenges to international and regional security, particularly maritime security, and the activities of the Russian "shadow fleet" are of common concern to both Greece and Ukraine, Ukraine underscores its commitment to the norms of international law and the principles of civil maritime security, noting its interest in preventing similar incidents in the future.

The Ukrainian side is convinced that this incident, like similar cases in other regions, demonstrates that Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine poses a threat not only to our country but also to neighboring friendly states, Europe, and the world as a whole

- the MFA spokesperson emphasized.

He added that Ukraine, like Greece, remains committed to further deepening the friendly relations between our two countries and developing a constructive dialogue in all areas of mutual interest.
