Ukraine is planning to replace the subsistence minimum with a special social payment, which is expected to have a positive impact on the social system and the country's economy. This was announced by the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Oksana Zholnovych during a telethon, UNN reports .
Zholnovych noted that the amount of the new social assistance will be set individually for each person, taking into account the family composition.
"We want to move away from the subsistence minimum. Fines, salaries, etc. are tied to it. It is very important for us to separate this," emphasized Zholnovych.
According to the Minister of Social Policy, the new basic payment will be provided in the following cases:
- for care in case of disability;
- to provide financial support to people facing poverty.
She also noted that the current subsistence minimum does not reflect real needs, as it is too low.
Recall
Since 2024, the subsistence minimum and social benefits linked to it have increased.
