The Ministry of Defense has already transferred more than 50% of the volume of engineering mines and ammunition for drones from the 2025 level. Purchases are being scaled up to defeat equipment.

Ukraine is significantly increasing its procurement of engineering mines and ammunition for drones, which allows for faster provision of necessary weapons to units at the front. This was announced by Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov, as reported by UNN.

Details

According to him, within the framework of the work of the Defense Procurement Agency DOT, over 50% of the total volume of such assets supplied for the entire year 2025 have already been transferred in the first three months of 2026. It is expected that these figures will significantly increase by the end of the year.

Engineering mines destroy enemy equipment and force it to move according to our scenario – into "fire traps." The cost of one mine is significantly lower than the equipment it stops or destroys. This is the mathematics of war

– explained the minister.

Separately, he emphasized the importance of ammunition for UAVs, which allows for pinpoint strikes on enemy infantry and light equipment without using expensive large-caliber ammunition.

Ammunition for UAVs allows reaching the enemy where other means are not effective, while preserving resources for more complex targets

– noted Fedorov.

The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that the demand for such means remains high, so supplies continue to be scaled up according to the needs of the front.

Key procurements and needs

Annual needs have also been updated, and procurements in key areas have been significantly increased – FPV drones, reconnaissance and strike drones, ammunition for them, engineering mines, and other means that directly affect the effectiveness of combat operations.

The agency adds that one of the priorities remains the transformation of the defense procurement system. They aim to make it as transparent and fast as possible, as the lives of military personnel depend on the speed of contracting and supply.
