"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine welcomes the historic decision of the European Council to open negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union, adopted in Brussels on December 14. (...) We expect the European Commission to start preparing a mandate for negotiations and an analytical assessment of Ukrainian legislation (screening) as soon as possible," the statement reads.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalled the words of Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba that "Ukraine's membership in the EU means security and prosperity for the whole of Europe." "Nothing will stop our country on its way to joining the European Union," the statement said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine thanked the partners who contributed to the adoption of this important decision.
