Ukraine can use long-range Storm Shadow missiles provided by Britain to strike military targets in Russia, new Prime Minister Starmer confirms.

New British Prime Minister  Keir Starmer  said that Ukraine decides how to use Storm Shadow missiles, confirming that it will continue the previous government's policy of using long-range weapons to strike military targets in Russia.  Starmer told reporters about this during a trip to the NATO summit in Washington, UNN reports with reference to Bloomberg.

Answering a question from a Bloomberg correspondent, Starmer agreed that it is up to Ukraine to decide how to use the Storm Shadow missiles provided by the UK.

The missiles should "obviously be used in accordance with international humanitarian law, as you would expect," the prime minister added, saying that the Storm Shadow should be used "for defensive purposes.

"But Ukraine should decide for itself how to use them for defense purposes," he said.

Responding to Russia's attack on the Okhmatdyt hospital in Ukraine, Starmer said it was "an absolutely shocking, horrific attack" that provided "a very important, albeit tragic, backdrop to this summit.

"My message to President Putin is this: this NATO summit should be seen as a clear and united resolve of NATO allies and other countries that are there at this very time to stand with Ukraine and stand up to Russian aggression," Starmer said.
