Ukraine and the Czech Republic exposed a fraudulent call center that defrauded investors of more than UAH 8.4 million. Under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, as part of the work of a joint investigative team involving Ukrainian and Czech law enforcement officers, 10 employees of a Kyiv call center were notified of suspicion. They are suspected of fraud and the legalization of proceeds obtained illegally

Investigators established that from 2022 to 2025, the scheme's participants persuaded Czech citizens to invest money in cryptocurrency. To make people invest increasingly larger sums, they created the appearance of successful trading and growing profits in the investors' personal accounts.

In fact, the victims received no earnings and, after transferring the funds, lost the ability to recover them. Nine victims—Czech citizens—have been identified so far. According to the investigation, the losses caused to them exceed UAH 8.4 million. It was specifically after the victims' appeals to law enforcement authorities in the Czech Republic that a joint international investigation was launched, resulting in the identification of the individuals involved in the fraudulent scheme

According to the available information, the suspects included both employees who directly communicated with the "investors," forcing them to transfer money, and people involved in converting currency from accounts and subsequently legalizing the funds.

The suspects' actions were qualified under Part 3 and Part 4 of Article 190 and Part 2 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Prosecutors filed motions to impose preventive measures in the form of detention on the suspects"

- the Prosecutor General's Office added.

At present, the court has set bail for four suspects ranging from UAH 266,000 to UAH 1 million. Three other suspects were placed under round-the-clock house arrest, while the remaining two were placed under nighttime house arrest.

Reminder

Since the beginning of the year, law enforcement officers have dismantled call centers with 2,000 workstations.
