Ukraine and Hungary have agreed to open a new checkpoint "Velyka Palad - Nagyhodos" for passenger vehicles and the possibility of empty trucks weighing more than 7.5 tons at the checkpoint "Luzhanka - Beregsurany". This was reported by the Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov, according to UNN.
We have agreed with Hungary to open a new checkpoint for passenger vehicles Velyka Palad - Nagyhodos and to launch empty trucks at another checkpoint Luzhanka - Beregsurany. The relevant amendments to the agreement were signed today with the Ambassador of Hungary to Ukraine Antal Heizer
Kubrakov also reported that Ukraine and Hungary are considering the possibility of building a new cargo checkpoint "Dyida-Berehdaroc" to increase the capacity of the common border.
At the same time, they are working on starting substantive negotiations on the introduction of joint customs and border control with Hungary. According to Kubrakov, this will speed up control procedures and reduce the time required to cross the border.
After the amendments to the agreement are signed, the project must be ratified.
According to the Ministry of Reconstruction, there are five automobile checkpoints with Hungary. Only the Chop-Záhony checkpoint can handle trucks weighing more than 7.5 tons. Both loaded and empty vehicles go there. About 220 trucks cross it daily to leave Ukraine.
