Ukraine analyzes six routes for launching toll roads

Ukraine is already conducting a traffic analysis on six main routes, which will help assess their feasibility and prepare mechanisms for launching toll roads. This was stated by Deputy Minister of community and Territory Development Sergey Derkach during an event from Eva, reports journalist UNN.

"The issue of toll roads is an EU requirement. In order to make a high-quality road, it is necessary to conduct an analysis of traffic intensity, now such an analysis is being conducted on 6 roads in order to launch the mechanism of toll roads. We are talking to investors, there are agreements with the EIB," Derkach said.

According to him, after the results of the traffic analysis, a decision will be made, but Ukraine is confidently moving towards a toll road system.

"Sooner or later there will still be toll roads," he added.

Transport expert Dmytro Bespalov statedthat Ukraine should introduce toll roads for large vehicles and consider the possibility of Direct Investment of businesses in road repairs to maintain them in proper condition.
