On July 28, 2026, two servicemen of the russian armed forces were notified of suspicion for raping and then killing a 34-year-old woman during the temporary occupation of the city of Bucha. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, writes UNN.

It has been established that the crime was committed by servicemen of the 234th Air Assault Regiment of the 76th Air Assault Division of the Airborne Forces of the russian armed forces. One of them: deputy platoon commander - gun commander, the other - senior mechanic-driver of a self-propelled artillery platoon.
According to the investigation, in March 2022, during the temporary occupation of Bucha, russian military personnel brought a civilian woman to the territory of one of the households on Vokzalna Street.
According to witness testimony, at that time there were five russian servicemen there. During the further investigation, law enforcement officers identified two of them as the direct perpetrators of sexual violence.
Using physical force against the victim, they raped her in turn. When the woman tried to escape, one of the soldiers opened aimed fire in her direction. She died from her injuries.
The indictment against the russian serviceman accused of murdering the victim had previously been sent to court.
Further investigation made it possible to establish the circumstances of the sexual violence and identify the second serviceman involved in the crime. Both were notified of suspicion of cruel treatment of the civilian population, combined with sexual violence, under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
