U.S. President Donald Trump reported that Iran agreed to almost all of Washington's demands. The next round of negotiations is scheduled after the funeral of Ayatollah Khamenei, who was killed in U.S. and Israeli strikes.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday that negotiations with Iran are progressing, adding that he believes Tehran has agreed to nearly all of Washington's key demands, as he stated in an interview with CNBC, UNN reports.

"We are negotiating... I think they have agreed to almost everything we need,"

Trump said.

Trump reiterated that the U.S. is not seeking regime change in Iran, stating that Washington's goal remains preventing Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

"I am not looking for regime change. I am looking for something very simple. They cannot have nuclear weapons," he said.

Update

Mediators said on Thursday that the next round of talks between the U.S. and Iran will be scheduled "as soon as possible" after the funeral of former Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in U.S.-Israeli strikes on February 28.
