It is noted that the decisive moment was the awarding of 40 electoral votes to Trump from the state of Texas at a meeting on Tuesday, December 17. Despite winning the election on November 5, his victory was formally confirmed through the constitutional process of the electoral college vote.
On January 6, 2025, the results will be approved by Congress, and Trump will be inaugurated on January 20.
Trump won 304 votes out of the 270 needed. His rival Kamala Harris got 167.
