President-elect Donald Trump has announced his intention to appoint billionaire Steven Feinberg to the post of Deputy Secretary of Defense. The winner of the election also named a deputy defense secretary for policy. This was reported by Reuters, according to UNN.
Details
Feinberg is a co-owner of Cerberus Capital Management LP, a private equity firm that invests in defense contractors. He was a member of the Intelligence Advisory Council during Trump's first term in office in 2017-2021.
The agency notes that the billionaire will become the No. 2 official in the Pentagon if Trump elects Pete Hegseth, a former Fox News host, as Secretary of Defense. He is facing questions over allegations of alcohol abuse and sexual misconduct, but Hegseth denies any wrongdoing.
In addition, Trump nominated Albright Colby for the position of Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, the third position in the Pentagon. Colby, known as a “China hawk,” was a senior official in the US Department of Defense during Trump's first term in office.
