Senator Mark Kelly called on Donald Trump to appoint more experienced diplomats for negotiations with Iran. According to the senator, the current presidential representatives, including Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, are not capable of effectively conducting this process.
"I would advise him that the solution is not to do the same thing he has been doing so far - not to entrust negotiations to his real estate buddy and son-in-law," Kelly said.
The senator noted that both representatives have led negotiations between the U.S. and Iran for several months, while the Trump administration sought to end a war that, according to its promises, was supposed to last only a few weeks.
In Kelly's view, the president should "appoint people who know how to do this, how to talk to the Iranians, and build a coalition, reunite our allies."
