A massive collision of two trains occurred on the railway line in Kagerup, near Hillerød, as reported by the duty officer of the North Zealand police.

Authorities told the Ritzau agency that four people are in critical condition. In total, 17 patients received assistance, the news agency writes.

The mayor of Gribskov municipality, Trine Egtved, stated in a Facebook post that several injured people were transported by helicopter to the university hospital in Copenhagen.

A large police contingent is at the scene, and traffic on the street at the scene is blocked in both directions. 

Buses were deployed on the railway routes from Hillerød to Tisvildeleje and from Hillerød to Kagerup.

A DR correspondent from the scene reported that there was a head-on collision of two trains.

Tim Ole Simonsen, a representative of the capital's emergency services, stated that no one is trapped under the rubble and everyone has been evacuated from the scene.
