Today, in Zakarpattia, we are launching a project to build the European railway Chop-Uzhhorod. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, reports UNN.
According to him, this will make it possible to launch a direct railroad connection between Uzhhorod and Vienna, Bratislava, Kosice, Budapest, Prague, Bucharest, Dresden, and Belgrade.
"The project will create a transport hub in Uzhhorod that will provide convenient and fast transfer of passengers between wide-gauge trains and trains of EU countries.
The construction of this Euro-gauge will be financed by EU grants received by Ukrzaliznytsia under the Connecting Europe Facility program," Shmyhal said.
He also added that in the near future we plan to implement similar projects in Lviv and Chernivtsi with EU funds.
