Earlier, the musicians protested against the use of their music in Donald Trump's presidential campaign. However, copyright litigation is expensive, and the case would take years to resolve.

Less than a week after Donald Trump's victory in the presidential election, the White Stripes dropped a copyright lawsuit over the use of their song “Seven Nation Army” without a license in the Republican presidential campaign.

The White Stripes' lawyers filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit on Sunday. In their one-sentence motion, the band's representatives ask for the case to be dismissed “without prejudice,” meaning that the trial could theoretically be reopened at some point in the future.

Last week, Jack White complained about Trump's landslide victory in an Instagram post.

He wrote: “Trump won the popular vote. End of story. Americans have elected a known and obvious fascist, and now America will get what this aspiring dictator wants to do from now on.”
