The Pope called for an end to attacks on civilians in Ukraine and Russia

Pope Leo XIV spoke about the deaths of innocent people in Ukraine and Russia and called for compliance with international humanitarian law. According to the UN, more than 16,000 civilians have been killed during nearly 4.5 years of war.

Pope Leo XIV said on Sunday that innocent people are being killed and wounded in Ukraine and Russia, and called for an end to the conflict. UNN reports this with reference to Reuters.

According to the Pontiff, innocent people are being killed and wounded both in Ukraine and in Russia.

Tragic incidents are multiplying, leading to a steady increase in the number of civilian casualties, including children. I once again sincerely call for respect for international humanitarian law and an end to attacks on civilian targets by both sides  

- Pope Leo said.

The publication adds that, according to the UN, more than 16,000 civilians have been killed during the nearly four and a half years of war. At the same time, the number of civilian casualties has increased significantly this year, in particular due to the more active use of drones and missiles.
