In two days, 24 forest fires were extinguished in the forests of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" on an area of almost 36 hectares, the state enterprise reported on Wednesday, writes UNN.
Over the past two days, 24 forest fires on an area of 35.9 hectares have been extinguished in the forest fund of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine".
Currently, as noted, "the extinguishing of the two largest fire hotspots continues – in Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions":
- Chernihiv region. "In the Slavutych forestry of the Chernihiv forest district, due to the fall of debris from an enemy drone, 75-year-old pine plantations caught fire on an island between the Dnipro and Verbka rivers. The fire hotspot can only be reached by water, so employees of the state forest guard and rescuers were transported to the island by a State Emergency Service boat. The fire was extinguished manually using backpack fire extinguishers, shovels, and beaters. Currently, the fire has been contained over an area of 30 hectares, and complete elimination is ongoing";
- Kharkiv region. "A ground forest fire occurred in the Artemivsk forestry of the Izium forest district. The fire hotspot is located 24 km from the line of contact. Sixteen employees of the State Enterprise 'Forests of Ukraine', four fire trucks, a fire module, a tractor, and a forest guard vehicle were involved in extinguishing. The fire was contained over an area of 8.5 hectares".
The State Emergency Service reported the day before that in the Kyiv region, in the forests of the Chornobyl exclusion zone, fire elimination is also ongoing.
Rescuers of the State Emergency Service, together with employees of the fire protection service of the State Specialized Enterprise "Northern Pushcha", as reported, have subdued the fires at two locations. As of the evening of June 30, the elimination of another fire hotspot was ongoing.
"The radiation background in the area of work remains within normal limits," the State Emergency Service stated.
Since last week, an extreme level of fire danger has persisted in Ukraine.
The State Forest Guard, together with representatives of the National Police, as reported by the State Enterprise, is patrolling forest areas across the country in an enhanced mode to prevent the occurrence of new fires and to promptly detect violations of fire safety rules in the forests of Ukraine.
