The official death toll from two powerful earthquakes that occurred in Venezuela at the end of June has risen to 5,119 people. The number of injured remains unchanged at 16,740 people. Bloomberg reports this, citing the head of the National Assembly of Venezuela, Jorge Rodríguez, writes UNN.

According to Rodríguez, the number of deaths increased by 50 people compared to the data released on Friday. At the same time, the number of people rescued from the rubble since the beginning of July remains unchanged at 6,462 people.
Two earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 occurred on June 24, 39 seconds apart. The disaster destroyed buildings, damaged electricity and water supply systems, and affected at least seven states of the country. The state of La Guaira and the Greater Caracas area suffered the most destruction.

Currently, the authorities are gradually transitioning from search and rescue operations to providing housing for people who have lost their homes, while international rescue teams have already begun to leave the country.
