The incident occurred at 19:04 local time. The vehicle is believed to be a dark BMW. The driver was detained immediately after the incident. Numerous injuries have been reported as a result of the attack. There may be some fatalities.
According to BILD, 60 to 80 people were injured in the attack on the Christmas market.

The Christmas market was closed, and the organizers called for the city center to be left.
According to the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung, the city of Halle, located about 80 kilometers from the scene, immediately after the attack, stepped up security measures at its Christmas market.
