Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina defeated Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova in the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Toronto and advanced to the next round of the competition. This is evidenced by the match result, UNN reports.

Svitolina made a poor start to the match and lost the first set 3:6. However, in the second set, the Ukrainian completely seized the initiative and did not give her opponent a single game — 6:0.
In the decisive third set, Svitolina continued to control the course of the match. The Ukrainian played the ending confidently and defeated Alexandrova 6:3.
It is worth noting that before facing Svitolina, Alexandrova caused a sensation by defeating world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the fourth round. The Russian defeated her 7:6(3), 4:6, 6:4.
