In the Rivne region, a serviceman was notified of suspicion of attempted murder after firing an assault rifle at TCR (Territorial Recruitment Center) employees and a police officer, the Prosecutor General's Office reported on Friday, UNN writes.

Substance of the case
According to the investigation, the man went AWOL (absent without official leave) from his military unit back in October 2024. On April 29, 2026, at around 5:00 PM, in one of the settlements of the Dubno district, he approached a service vehicle containing TCR employees and a police officer on a bicycle. Taking an automatic weapon out of a bag, he fired several bursts in the direction of the car, the prosecutor's office reported.
As a result of the shelling, two people sustained physical injuries from glass fragments. They have been hospitalized. Two other people who were in the car were not injured. The service vehicle sustained mechanical damage.
After the attack, the man fled and hid in the basement of an abandoned house. He was located and detained. During the search, an automatic weapon, almost 500 rounds of ammunition, a grenade, and an object resembling a silencer were seized.
His actions are qualified under Part 2 of Art. 15, paragraphs 1, 8 of Part 2 of Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (completed attempted murder) and Part 4 of Art. 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (desertion).
Prosecutors have filed a motion with the court to select a preventive measure in the form of detention.
