A new wave of cyber fraud has been detected online: Ukrainians are receiving mass emails and messenger notifications with fake electricity bills, allegedly sent on behalf of the Ministry of Energy. This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation of the NSDC of Ukraine (CCD), according to UNN.
Details
It is noted that the department has never sent and does not send any payment letters to consumers.
The functions of supplying electricity and issuing bills are assigned exclusively to specific energy companies with which each consumer has signed official individual contracts. The Ministry has nothing to do with the collection of utility payments
It is indicated that this phishing scheme aims to force citizens to click on suspicious links, steal your personal data, hack personal social media pages, and gain full control over bank accounts.
