Details
"The Security Service detained a pro-Russian agitator in Kyiv who called for a violent seizure of power in Ukraine and the assassination of our country's leaders. According to the investigation, the suspect was a follower of the banned Shariy party and coordinated his subversive activities with representatives of the top 20 pro-Kremlin political party," the SBU said.
According to the SBU, the offender used his Telegram and YouTube channels, Instagram page, as well as other social networks with a total audience of almost 20 thousand users to spread destructive content.
"As the investigation established, the defendant received orders to "disperse" certain topics from propagandists controlled by Shariy, who are hiding abroad and conducting information sabotage on behalf of Russian special services. The relevant instructions came in the form of "editorial tasks" through anonymous chats in messengers," the SBU said.
During the searches in the detainee's apartment, a laptop, a mobile phone, membership cards of the "Shariy Party", pro-Russian literature and drugs were reportedly seized.
"The forensic linguistic examination initiated by the SBU confirmed the facts of the suspect's information and subversive activities in favor of the Kremlin," the special service said.
He has now reportedly been served with a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (public calls for violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order or for the seizure of state power, as well as the distribution of materials calling for such actions).
The issue of additional qualification of the criminal actions of the defendant on the fact of drug possession is also being resolved.
The offender is in custody. He faces imprisonment with confiscation of property.
