Russian forces are repainting drones black to reduce their visibility at night; Ukraine is adapting its air defense to counter this tactic.

The enemy is trying to improve its weapons, in particular, repainting drones from light to black to make them more difficult to detect visually at night. This was announced during a telethon by the spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ihnat, UNN reports.

The enemy is definitely improving its weapons. This applies to both small arms and drones. We have already seen variants of composite materials being used, carbon fiber, and, of course, they also take spray cans and paint those light "chessmen" black to make them harder to detect

- said Yuriy Ihnat.

Details

According to Ihnat, Ukrainian air defense is already adapting to such so-called "modernizations". However, the enemy will continue to use camouflage tactics.

The Air Force spokesman noted that even Iran has already developed batches of light and black "Shaheds". Presumably, this is done in order to use different UAVs at different times of the day. That is, light ones during the day, where they will merge with the sky, and dark ones at night.

As a reminder

Kyiv forensic experts have received the wreckage of a Shahed drone used in the attack on Ukraine on November 25. Preliminary analysis showed that the drones are now black, not light gray.
