Rospatent issued a certificate of "exclusive right" to the Melitopol Cherry brand in favor of the occupation administrations of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. This was reported by Russian media , according to UNN .
The Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) has issued the first certificate of exclusive right to a regional brand in the new regions of the Russian Federation. It was the geographical indication "Melitopol sweet cherry"
It is worth noting that back in 2020, Melitopol Cherry received the official title of a geographical brand in Ukraine. The Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine agreed with the conclusion of the Institute of Intellectual Property and registered the geographical indication Melitopol Cherry.
The application for registration of the geographical indication was filed in December 2019 by the Association of Melitopol Cherry Producers.
In October 2021, the Melitopol Cherry Group of Companies received the Global G.A.P. certificate, which meets international standards for the quality and environmental friendliness of its products.
