The Russian army continues to seize settlements in Donbas. The pace of the offensive demonstrates a slow but gradual advance of Russian troops. This is reported by the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom, UNN writes.

Details

The intelligence service noted that on April 22, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the capture of Novomykhailivka.

The village is located south of Maryinka and northeast of Vuhledar in Donetsk region. Novomykhailivka is of limited military and strategic importance, but lies on the roads to other settlements located on both sides of the Sukhi Yaly River south of Donetsk.

It is noted that Russian troops entered the village on February 9, 2024 and reached its center by March 24. According to the 79th Separate Air Assault Tavriya Brigade, it took 30,000 Russian troops, who lost 300 pieces of equipment.

It took 73 days for Russian troops to clear the village, which is less than 5 kilometers away, from the entrance to the clearing of the village, and this is with additional operational reserves, the review says.

On this axis, Russian forces will likely try to advance to Kostyantynivka, two kilometers west of Novomykhailivka. A further advance north of Vuhledar could eventually bypass the Ukrainian defenses, which have inflicted extremely high casualties on Russian ground forces,

- the statement said.

Recall

As previously reported by UK intelligence, Russia's armed forces have created a special unit called Bars-Cascade for Kremlin VIPs, which operates far from the front line and includes the sons of Kremlin elites, allowing them to bypass compulsory military service while gaining favor with the Kremlin.
