The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has not allowed Russia to participate in the 2027 Men's World Ice Hockey Championship and three other tournaments of the 2026-2027 season. This was reported by the IIHF, writes UNN.

The IIHF Council re-examined the request of the Ice Hockey Federation of Russia regarding the return of Russian teams to international competitions following the decision of the Disciplinary Board.
Based on the assessment of safety, operational feasibility, and sporting integrity, it was decided not to allow Russia to participate in the Men's World Championship, the Junior World Championship, as well as the Men's and Women's Under-18 World Championships in the 2026-2027 season.

At the same time, the IIHF reported that the issue of the participation of the Russian women's national team in the 2027 World Championship will be considered separately in November 2026.
The federation noted that the decision will be made taking into account the security situation, risk assessment, and other circumstances that will be in effect at that time.
