It is noted that the 2027 Men's Volleyball World Cup will take place without Russia. As for women - there is no decision yet.
The 2027 Men's World Cup will be held in Poland - organizers reported that the return of Russians to competitions creates huge problems and there is no solution on how to admit them to the tournament. Now FIVB has reported that Russia has refused to participate in the Men's World Cup.
Regarding the Women's World Cup – consultations with the organizers are still ongoing. The 2027 Women's Volleyball World Cup will be held in the USA and Canada.
It is also reported that Russia will play in the Volleyball Nations League next season - both men's and women's. This was officially announced by the International Volleyball Federation.
To accommodate the participation of Russians, the Nations League will be expanded to 19 participants next season - for only one competitive year. This guarantees that Slovenia (among women) and Finland (among men), who qualified on sporting merit, will make it to the tournament.
