Russia and China have agreed with the Houthi rebels from Yemen on safe navigation in the Red Sea. The Houthis promised that Russian and Chinese vessels in the Red Sea will not be attacked by them, UNN reports with reference to Bloomberg.
Details
According to Deutsche Welle, the Houthis have been attacking ships in the Red Sea since November 2023 that they believe are linked to Israel. They claim that the attacks will continue until Israel ends the blockade of the Gaza Strip and its military operation in the Palestinian region. The Red Sea is home to some of the world's most important trade routes.

The Houthis control some parts of Yemen, as well as the coast of the country. They belong to the Iranian-led "Axis of Resistance" and support the Palestinian radical movement Hamas.
To protect shipping in the Red Sea, the United States launched the Operation Prosperity Guardian initiative at the end of 2023, which was joined by a number of countries. Germany sent the frigate Hessen to the Red Sea. It is participating in the EU's Aspides operation.
