Ukrainian prisoner of war of the Azov Brigade, Oleksandr Ishchenko, died in Russian captivity due to blunt force trauma to his chest. This was reported by the deputy commander of the brigade Svyatoslav Palamar on Facebook, UNN reports.

With the consent of the late Ishchenko's wife, the military published a document based on the results of a forensic medical examination, which found that Ishchenko died as a result of shock caused by multiple rib fractures and a closed blunt chest injury.

On July 31, it was reported that one of the captured Ukrainian soldiers of the Azov regiment , Oleksandr Ishchenko, died in Rostov-on-Don. On that day, Ishchenko was not brought from the pre-trial detention center to the court hearing, and his lawyer informed the court that the soldier had died.
According to Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, who spoke with the soldier's daughter, the man had died 9 days before.
In this regard, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights sent letters to the International Committee of the Red Cross, the UN, and the Russian Ombudsman to find out the official cause of death.
