The Republican Party of US President-elect Donald Trump, according to a forecast by Decision Desk HQ, has won a majority in the US House of Representatives, which will mean that Republicans will have a majority in both houses of Congress, Reuters reports, UNN writes.
Details
Edison Research has not yet predicted who will control the House of Representatives. It predicts that Republicans will win at least 215 seats and Democrats at least 206. Races for 14 seats remain uncertain. The smallest majority in the House of Representatives is 218.
The Republicans have already secured a 52-46 majority in the U.S. Senate, according to Edison Research.
Addendum
As reported, control of the House of Representatives gives the party the power to initiate spending legislation and to initiate impeachment proceedings against officials. Under Trump, a unified Republican Party could reportedly more easily push through tax cuts and border control measures.
