The Security Service thwarted another attempt by the Rashists to destabilize the socio-political situation in the western regions of Ukraine. As a result of the special operation, a Russian agent couple who were preparing two explosions in Ternopil at once were detained. This was reported by the SBU press service, writes UNN.

Initially, the enemy planned to blow up a service car parked near the TCC, and after the emergency services arrived at the scene, a second explosive device was supposed to go off. In this way, the Russian special services planned not only to kill the maximum number of Ukrainian citizens, but also to eliminate their agents as "unnecessary witnesses."
According to the investigation, the order of the Russian Federation was carried out by two drug addicts from Poltava region: a 42-year-old man and his 30-year-old cohabitant, who were looking for money "for a dose" on Telegram channels. There they were recruited by a Russian special services officer, on whose instructions the couple arrived in Ternopil to prepare the terrorist attack.
After arriving in the regional center, the agents received instructions from the occupiers to rent an apartment. There they stored two improvised explosive devices equipped with additional damaging elements in the form of nuts and electronic remote detonation devices.
The Security Service exposed the agents at the initial stage of their subversive activities. After documenting their crimes, both suspects were detained as they were heading with explosives to the site of the planned terrorist attack.
SBU investigators informed the detainees of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 2 of Art. 258 (preparation for committing a terrorist act);
- Part 1 of Art. 263 (illegal handling of explosives).
The perpetrators are in custody. They face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The SBU warns Ukrainians: the Russian special services have started using new tactics. They blow up their agents, use them "blindly," and then get rid of them as unnecessary witnesses.
