The delay in the sale of the yacht of former traitor MP Viktor Medvedchuk by the head of the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA), Olena Duma, cannot be ordinary negligence, such actions could be motivated by financial reward. This opinion was expressed by political scientist Viktor Bobirenko in an exclusive commentary to UNN.

But what kind of negligence? I'm serious. In the Ukrainian reality, I do not believe in such facts as official negligence. Negligence is an excuse to avoid criminal proceedings. Like, fire me administratively, because it's supposed to be negligence. Well, I was stupid, I couldn't do it and it didn't work out, I repent - fire me. After all, the maximum possible punishment for negligence is dismissal for incompetence

- the expert believes.

According to him, law enforcement officers should investigate why Medvedchuk's yacht has not been sold in two years.

"I am not a court to pass a verdict, but it is obvious and unambiguous to me that ARMA's actions were motivated. We can discuss who benefits (from the yacht not being sold - ed.) - Medvedchuk or his godfather Putin. Let the law enforcement agencies investigate this. I can only assume that these people are doing such things because they are motivated by money... For six months she made offers, just think about it! Half a year! Yeah, it's just negligence," the political scientist points out.

Context

The ARMA has recently been in the spotlight for losing the Royal Romance yacht, which belonged to former MP Viktor Medvedchuk, a suspect in high treason. Despite the yacht's arrest by a Croatian court and its transfer to Ukraine for sale, ARMA has not been able to sell the asset in two years.

After researching the topic, we found out that the main delay with the sale of the yacht of the traitorous ex-MP arose because the head of ARMA, Olena Duma, had been preparing changes to the legislation for the sale of foreign assets for almost six months. At the same time, at the time of her appointment to ARMA, the Prosecutor General's Office, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, had already prepared a draft of the changes, but Duma categorically rejected it.

In this regard, the ARMA only launched a tender on March 20, 2024, to select a seller to sell the yacht, and a month later it finally selected the winner. It is worth noting that the selection of the winner took place a month before the expiration of the maximum period of seizure of this asset, which made its sale virtually impossible.

Former MP Ihor Mosiychuk believesthat ARMA head Olena Duma acted in Medvedchuk's interests by delaying the sale of his yacht. He calls for an investigation into whether this was intentional or due to incompetence.
