Police warn of liability for using fireworks during holidays

The Patrol Police reminds that the use of pyrotechnics during martial law is prohibited. Violations are subject to administrative and criminal liability, ranging from fines to imprisonment.

The Patrol Police of Ukraine reminded of the ban on the use of pyrotechnics, salutes, fireworks and firecrackers during the legal regime of martial law, UNN reports.

Details

Pyrotechnic products are means that create noise and light effects. Currently, such devices are harmful to the psychological health of the population, as they resemble the sounds of explosions and can frighten people and animals experiencing the horrors of war.

It is important to note that administrative and criminal liability is provided for the illegal sale and illegal handling of pyrotechnic products.

The sanctions of the articles of the Code of Administrative Offenses provide for punishment in the form of a fine with possible confiscation of pyrotechnics, and the Criminal Code provides for punishment from a fine to imprisonment.

For reference 

There are several articles in the current legislation that punish the use or sale of pyrotechnics: 

- Article 164 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of the procedure for conducting business activities) - a fine in the amount of  from UAH 17 thousand to 34 thousand.

-Article 182 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of the requirements of legislative and other regulatory acts on protection of the population from harmful effects of noise or rules of silence in settlements and public places). It is punishable by a fine of UAH 85 to UAH 255for individuals and business entities of UAH 255 to UAH 510;

-Article 195-6 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (violation of the procedure for the production, storage, transportation, trade and use of pyrotechnics) is punishable by a fine from UAH 1,020 to UAH 1,700 with confiscation of pyrotechnics;

-Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism) is punishable by a fine of UAH 17 thousand to 34 thousand, or arrest for up to six months or restraint of liberty for up to five years.
