U.S. Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth will make his first visit to Israel on Wednesday, July 8. It is currently unclear whether U.S. strikes on Iran will affect these plans, reports UNN citing CNN.
Details
Hegseth is expected to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his counterpart, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz. One of the goals of the visit is to allay Israeli concerns about a possible sale of modern F-35 stealth fighters to Turkey, which President Donald Trump raised during the NATO summit in Ankara, the report says.
At the same time, in an interview with CNN, Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan "is not an exemplary ally of the United States." He noted that Erdogan "threatens to destroy the only Jewish state."
Recall
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he opposes the possible sale of American F-35 fighters to Turkey. He emphasized that he does not consider this evidence of disagreements with U.S. President Donald Trump.
