In Kyiv, over 2,200 units of firearms and more than a million rounds of ammunition have been declared as part of the voluntary weapons declaration process. Since the procedure began, over 2,100 citizens have contacted the capital's police, legalizing their existing weapons and receiving the relevant permits within a few hours. This was reported by the Kyiv police, according to UNN.
The official procedure for the voluntary declaration of firearms and ammunition started on November 24, 2024. Since then, over 2,136 residents have contacted Kyiv police units. Citizens have declared 2,237 units of firearms and more than a million rounds of ammunition. After completing the procedure within a few hours, they received the relevant permits and can now store the weapons on legal grounds,
The police reminded that the weapons declaration algorithm is simple and accessible to everyone, taking only a few hours.
To do this, it is necessary to:
- report the find or existing weapon to the 102 emergency line or contact the local police unit at the place of residence;
- arrive at the nearest police unit to declare the weapon or take advantage of the opportunity for licensing service specialists to visit the declarant's place of residence to carry out the procedure;
- prepare a passport of a citizen of Ukraine and an identification code (TIN).
