Wimbledon's strict all-white dress code did not stop Naomi Osaka from making another fashion statement as she stepped onto the grass court at the All England Club on Monday.

Osaka, who has repeatedly drawn attention with her creative outfits at Grand Slam tournaments, took to Court No. 3 in a long-sleeved kimono with intricate embroidery to play her first-round match against Elsa Jacquemot.

After winning 6-1, 7-5, Osaka said she drew inspiration for the outfit from Quentin Tarantino's film.

"For me, my Japanese heritage means a lot. At Wimbledon, they say you have to wear only white, and I thought it would be great to come out in a kimono," Osaka said. "I am inspired by many different things, and for me, one of my favorite movies is 'Kill Bill.' I really like Lucy Liu's character, O-Ren Ishii, and she appears in that iconic white kimono. I always tell people that sometimes I like to be like a video game character, I don't want to be myself when I play on the court. And I kind of try to embody her image a little bit."

The Japanese tennis player's latest creation drew an enthusiastic reaction from the crowd, many of whom eagerly awaited her entrance, holding up their phones to capture it. One fan shouted, "Go, queen!" as Osaka stepped onto the court.
