"Nova Poshta" reported the temporary suspension of operations at a sorting depot following a morning explosion in Kyiv, and also announced the death of an employee as a result of the incident, UNN reports.

"On June 5, 2026, at approximately 04:15, an explosion occurred on the territory of the Nova Poshta sorting depot in Kyiv, resulting in a fire. Rescuers, emergency services personnel, and law enforcement officers promptly arrived at the scene," the Nova Poshta statement reads.

The fire, as stated, was localized and extinguished.
"Nova Poshta" reported that a 58-year-old employee died as a result of the incident. Two other employees—aged 41 and 37—sustained injuries and are under medical supervision. "We are in constant contact with their families and are providing all necessary assistance and support. The company will also take charge of organizing the funeral for our deceased colleague," the company's statement says.

At the scene, as indicated, "investigative actions and the work of specialized services are ongoing to establish all circumstances and causes of the incident."
"Nova Poshta is fully cooperating with law enforcement agencies and rescue services. Until the official investigation is completed, the company is refraining from commenting on the possible causes of the incident. We express our sincere condolences to the family, loved ones, and colleagues of the deceased employee," the statement reads.
