The main registration period for the National Multi-Subject Test (NMT) has concluded in Ukraine. The Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment (UCEQA) and regional centers have already begun allocating male and female participants of the main sessions to workstations in temporary examination centers, the Ministry of Education and Science reported, summarizing the results: how many registered, where the testing will take place, and which elective subjects Ukrainians chose, UNN reports.
How many registered
According to the results of the main registration period in 2026, approximately 368,774 people used the special UCEQA service. Of these, 355,371 participants have already received confirmation of successful registration and the ability to generate a certificate for participation in the NMT.
Last year, approximately 320,000 people used the service. Of those, more than 312,000 received notification of successful registration and the ability to generate an NMT certificate - which is 43,000 fewer than in 2026.
Who will take the NMT-2026
The majority of those registered are this year's graduates - 252,034 people. Along with them, 103,337 graduates of previous years will also take the test.
For comparison: In 2025, the following registered for the main NMT session: 234,841 graduates (class of 2024/2025) and 77,649 graduates of previous years.
Where the testing will take place
The NMT will be conducted in specially created temporary examination centers:
- in Ukraine - 336,827 male and female participants;
- abroad - 18,544 applicants currently residing in various countries around the world.
Last year, 292,419 participants took the test in Ukraine, and 20,071 - abroad.
Which subjects participants chose
Participants of NMT-2026 will take three compulsory subjects - Ukrainian language, mathematics, and the history of Ukraine, as well as a fourth elective subject.
Among the most popular subjects, as in previous years, participants chose a foreign language, geography, and biology.
Physics and chemistry saw the lowest registration numbers this year - 11,222 and 3,015 participants respectively.
"Natural sciences were chosen less frequently - this is a trend we are consistently trying to change by updating educational spaces in schools. A child's interest in these subjects is born through access to research, modern equipment, and real experiments. That is why for the second year in a row, one of the focuses of our policy is the renovation and equipping of science classrooms in schools," said Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi.
Testing in national minority languages
For applicants who studied in the languages of indigenous peoples or national minorities, the UCEQA will provide translations of tasks in mathematics, history of Ukraine, biology, geography, physics, and chemistry.
518 people exercised this right:
- 497 participants will receive a translation in Hungarian;
- 18 - in Romanian;
- 3 - in Polish.
What's next
The next stage is receiving invitations for testing. They will appear in the participants' personal accounts no later than 10 calendar days before the start of the main sessions (i.e., by May 10). The invitations will specify the date, time, and location of the NMT.
For security reasons, information about testing locations in Ukraine is not published in the public domain - neither on the websites of assessment centers nor on social media. For the same reason, the testing schedule is not made public. Participants are also asked not to share this data.
