Yuriy Boyko made a statement about “radicals” who rename cities and ban speaking their native language. The Center for Countering Disinformation and the Presidential Office criticized his position.

The politician spoke about “radicals” who forbid people to speak their native language and go to the same church, drawing a parallel with the events in the United States, where there was an incident with the demolition of monuments to Christopher Columbus. The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, Andriy Kovalenko, reacted to this statement by the MP, UNN reports.

MP Yuriy Boyko, who heads the Platform for Life and Peace parliamentary group in the Rada , posted a video on TikTok in which he spoke about “radicals” who rename cities, demolish monuments, and also mentioned the language and the church.

“It seems that our radicals have taken the same course and started demolishing monuments across the country, renaming cities, forbidding people to speak their native language, forbidding them to go to the church they want to go to. And today we see that this movement continues, that violence against people continues,” said the deputy.

The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council responded to the statement of the former OPFL representative .

“It would be very useful if a member of parliament (if, of course, he or she is working in the interests of Ukraine) would constantly remind us of this in public. However, we see something else. And this is outrageous, to put it mildly,” said Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation.

Addendum

The head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, also released a message after Boyko's video message , in which he seems to have hinted at the former OPFL representative

“Some politicians forget that it is the defense of Ukraine and the victory over Russia, not the spread of Russian narratives, that is the key goal now,” he said.
